215Affective (emotional) maturity denotes a person capable of engaging in appropriate, balanced, responsible, and productive relationships with other people, in a wide variety of situations.Integrative perspective portrays an individual who has a positive view of self and humanity, who can integrate dichotomies, and who embraces higher values such as the good in oneself and others. Resilient sense of self indicates an individual who maintains a stable internal frame of reference, whose awareness is in the %u201chere and now,%u201d and who responds adaptively to both internal and external challenges.Self-actualized people respond based on who they know they are, rather than on changing their behavior to fi t in. They bring their best thinking to all their behavior. The deep rest of TM removes stress and fatigue and allows the individual to grow toward their full human potential, displaying all these components of self-actualization. With daily practice of TM, people come to experience that the inner self in everyone is an unbounded ocean of happiness and creative intelligence, even though people differ in skin color, language, food, behavior, customs, and religious beliefs. They come to understand that everyone else is also growing at their own pace, and will ultimately express their inner Self as happiness and love. For the enlightened, the world is their family.
