120But won%u2019t we all turn out the same? That would be dull! No, not the same. The key word is potential. We each have a different potential, that is, different talents and abilities. The tragedy is that we have developed only a small portion of that potential. This extends to specific potential as well. We do not all end up with the same ability. Some will find calculus a breeze. Others will have no difficulty writing epic poems before breakfast. The TM program brings a revolutionary concept into psychology%u2014the fact that it is possible to greatly increase intelligence and creativity in adults. Now it is actually possible to become more intelligent as we acquire the experience of living. With the TM technique, our thinking becomes more flexible, more lively. After beginning the TM program, time ceases to be an enemy and becomes a friend. Before we started the program we thought, %u201cBefore long, I%u2019ll be five years older.%u201d But after starting the TM program we say, %u201cIn five years I will have been practicing the TM technique five years longer.%u201d And we know that five years of the TM program means five years of increasing intelligence, expanding awareness, growing stability, and growth toward being so established in who you are that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.So rather than becoming more and more the same, TMers become more and more different?A useful analogy might be an orchard of trees, their roots deep in the same earth, yet their branches each yielding different fruit. We become more grounded in our common basis of creative intelligence, yet our expressions of that creative intelligence become stronger and more independent. And interestingly enough, that increased independence and individuality is enjoyed along with more and more harmony with others and with the environment. What is happening is really quite simple. Intelligence and creativity increase with TM, and therefore the ability to do anything improves.
