243Scientists predicted that if a person were experiencing inner wakefulness during sleep, a sign of Cosmic Consciousness (CC), their EEG would show the EEG of Transcendental Consciousness (TC) simultaneously with the EEG of sleep. They had previously found that the EEG frequency associated with TC was a frequency band of theta2-alpha1 (6-10 Hz). The EEG signature of deep sleep was well known to be slow waves of 1-4 Hz, called delta. In contrast to the Short-Term Transcendental Meditation (TM) group or the NonTM group, during sleep the group reporting signs of Cosmic Consciousness (the Long-Term TM group) had a signifi cantly higher percentage of the theta2-alpha1 EEG of TC, simultaneously with the delta EEG of deep sleep. The consistent presence of TC during deep sleep would be the conclusive test that Cosmic Consciousness has become fully established in one%u2019s physiological functioning. This experience of the silent inner Self, Transcendental Consciousness or TC, along with sleep or activity is called %u201cwitnessing.%u201dThis study takes the ancient Vedic knowledge of enlightenment out of the realm of mysticism and into evidence-based modern science, opening the door of enlightenment for everyone.6543210Non-TM Short-Term TM Long-Term TMp < .001p = .001 Percent EEG Relative Power in Theta2-Alpha1EEG Pattern of Cosmic ConsciousnessDuring Witnessing Sleeptm-055ALL-TIME GOOD MORNING INSIDEReference: Mason, L.
