Groups of suffi cient size to bring peace to the Lebanon confl ict were assembled, in seven different locations around the world. Each time, peace returned to Lebanon.The results of these interventions included: %u2022 War-related fatalities decreased by 71% (p < 10-10) (less than 1 in one billion).%u2022 War-related injuries fell by 68% (p < 10-6) (less than 1 in one million).%u2022 The level of confl ict dropped by 48% (p < 10-8) (less than 1 in one hundred million).%u2022 Cooperation among antagonists increased by 66% (p < 10-6) (less than 1 in one million).The likelihood that these combined results were due to chance or other factors is less than one in 10-19 (1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000, or 1 in one quadrillion). This level of statistical signifi cance establishes that the Maharishi Effect %u2014 of reducing societal stress and violence by the establishment of a coherence-creating group practicing the TM and TM-Sidhi program %u2014 is one of the most rigorously established phenomena in the history of the social sciences.
