275This 17-year study found that when a group in Iowa, USA practicing the Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM-Sidhi program reached the predicted %u221a1% of the US population, there was a simultaneous decrease in the trends of multiple national stress indicators: murder, rape, assault, robbery, infant mortality, vehicle fatalities, and childhood and adolescent deaths by injuries. The rapid rise of deaths from drug overdose slowed signifi cantly during the demonstration period. When the group size dropped, the change in all stress indicators slowed and then turned around and started increasing again. The study analyzed all factors known to infl uence indices of national stress, and found that none could explain the reduction in individual variables, much less simultaneous reduction in all of them at the predicted time. In fact, observed reductions in crime were in the opposite direction of what was widely predicted to happen due to the high level of unemployment and low level of incarceration at the time. This study also showed that the negative trends began to rise again when the size of the coherence-creating group decreased (2012%u20132016). For example, the precipitous drop in size of the group (2013%u20132014) corresponded with a rapid increase in negative trends. Clearly the urgent responsibility of our time is to create and maintain coherence-creating Super-Radiance groups for every nation. The statistical signifi cance of the composite index improvement was p < .0001.2.52.01.51.00.50.0-0.5-1.0-1.5-2.0Coherence-Creating Group SizeBaseline Demonstration PostMIU Group Size & Reduction of Sufiering in the USYear2000 2002 2004 2006 2008 2010 2012 2014 2016MIU Group SizeUS Stress IndexDrug DeathsMurderRapeAssaultRobberyInfant MortalityVehicle FatalitiesChildhood Injury Deathstm-085SUFFERING VARIES WITH SUPER-RADIANCE SIZEReferences: Orme-Johnson, D.
